Dr Maali D. Alshammari

Dr Maali D. Alshammari is a medicinal chemist and assistant professor and head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Hail. She received her Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Mississippi in 2022 and her M.S. in Medicinal Chemistry from the same institution in 2019. Her research focuses on synthetic medicinal chemistry and natural products, particularly the development of novel fluorinated building blocks and their applications in drug discovery.
Dr Alshammari has published several research articles in prestigious scientific journals and presented her work at various international conferences. She is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Saudi Arabian International Chemical Sciences, and the Saudi Pharmaceutical Society. Her honours and awards include the Graduate Research Scholar Award from the American Chemical Society, the Outstanding Graduate Student Award in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Mississippi, and the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society.
In addition to her research, Dr Alshammari has teaching experience in analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, and applied pharmacokinetics. She has also mentored and tutored several undergraduate and graduate students in medicinal chemistry and Arabic language programs.
During their Residential Fellowship, Dr Alshammari will be collaborating with Dr George W Weaver from the Department of Chemistry.
