Students’ Union Big Litter Pick picks up Don't Muck Around award

The Big Litter Pick – a project led by Action, ̨ÍåÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Students’ Union’s volunteering section – has won the Inspiring Others prize at the 2014 Don’t Muck Around Awards.

The Awards are part of Charnwood Borough Council’s to tackle enviro-crime in Charnwood, and recognise people, organisations, groups and communities who go above and beyond to care for the environment.

The Big Litter Pick, held in May 2014, saw around 800 ̨ÍåÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ students take to the town’s streets to reduce litter. The project was a massive success, with more than 100 large bags of rubbish collected.

Readers of the ̨ÍåÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Echo, one of the awards sponsors, voted it their favourite project from a shortlist of eight, in the Inspiring Others category.
